Owners of Gerald Laird should worry about the loss of playing time for Laird. Those of us who own neither should be happy, because Saltalamacchia is just so much fun to say. If you have either Salty or Laird as a starting catcher, it’s time to look for another. As a backup, however, either could be useful. Ben Broussard is batting a measly .161 so far, and neither Frank Catalanotto nor Jason Botts have been very impressive. Salty and Laird might see time at DH or first base. In many leagues, Salty is already eligible at first base, making him more flexible and usable. On a side note, was the Saltalamacchia-Teixeira trade the best two names in a trade ever? If somebody knows of a better one, please tell me. |
